LiveStrong points  the benefits of bananas as nighttime snacks:

– rich in potassium and magnesium,

-rich with tryptophan and melatonin.

The Hearty Soul recommends:

Just cut off both ends of a banana

– put it in a pot of boiling water without peeling.

Note:

-use organic, pesticide-free fruit here.

Keep it boiling for  10 minutes and pour into a mug.

You can add cinnamon and you can also eat the boiled banana — with the peel — after you’ve used up the water.

Another recipe :

Mash bananas up (no peel this time) , add honey and cook the mixture in a small saucepan on medium heat for 5 minutes.
Stir throughout and then add 1 cup of milk, then a little extra honey and cinnamon.
Keep cooking until the honey has dissolved into the mixture and blend the mixture (but do not fill the blender up more than halfway).
While holding down the lid, puree the mix until it has a smooth consistency and add another half cup of milk and blend again.

Organic Facts says that milk and honey  combination results with high amounts of tryptophan being sent to the brain .
